The funeral arrangements for HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark were announced this morning from The Danish Royal Court.

On Thursday, February 15th at 10:00 AM, the Prince’s body will leave Fredensborg Palace, followed by the Royal Family, and will be taken to Amalienborg.

Beginning on Saturday, February 17th, his coffin will rest in the palace church at Christiansborg Palace, and members of the public will be able to pay their respects on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

On Tuesday, February 20th at 11:00 AM, the Prince’s funeral will take place at the Christiansborg Palace church.  Per his request, it will be a private funeral with just his family and close friends in attendance.  The service will be conducted by Bishop Erik Norman Svendsen.

Following the service, Prince Henrik’s remains will be cremated.  Half of his ashes will be spread in Danish waters, while the other half will be interred in the private gardens at Fredensborg Palace.

The Royal Court has declared a month of mourning, ending on March 14, 2018.  During this time, the Royal Family will not take part in any social events or entertaining.  The court will wear dark clothing, and guards at the palaces will wear black armbands.
